Sebi Veli, Senior Web Application Developer
I’m Sebi and I’m a Senior Web Application Developer at People First. I started here three years ago as a junior with very little experience but had the opportunity to progress early on and now work as a Senior Developer. I’ve had the chance to work in a close team surrounded by talented developers, which gave me the knowledge that helped me to learn and progress so quickly.
I love working at People First for the vastness of the project and the large team of people all working collaboratively on one growing product. We have the opportunity to attend conferences such as Angular Connect and JSConf where we can exchange our ideas with other developers and gain a broader knowledge. Working on a rich codebase gives me the ability to use common design patterns and improve my problem-solving skills on a daily basis. The environment here allows me to continue evolving, challenging myself trying new things.
Aaron White, Software Delivery Lead
I’m Aaron and I’m a Software Delivery Lead at People First. After completing my degree in Electrical Engineering, I came to People First as a graduate Junior Software Engineer. Within three years, I had progressed to Senior Software Engineer through hard work and internal training, such as my Microsoft certifications. After two more years, I was promoted to Software Delivery Lead.
All of my roles have presented me with exciting challenges and engaged me in my work. As part of my current role, my days are spent supporting my team and helping them to tackle any issues whilst taking into consideration my own personal development and coding tasks. I enjoy working at People First as I get to use the latest technologies and frameworks, such as Azure and .Net Core. The people within the department are also fantastic and every day I get to communicate vastly with many of them. My favourite aspect of this company is the real push for people to gain as much internal and external training as possible in order to always continue developing and improving my skills and capabilities.
Ashleigh Soppet, Social Media Specialist
I’m Ashleigh and I’m the Social Media Specialist at People First. Since I completed my English Studies degree at University, I have worked in a range of digital marketing roles, both agency and client-side. My day-to-day roles at People First includes building online communities, content creation and the management of social media advertising.
I enjoy working in the marketing team at People First – I like to think of us as small, but perfectly formed! The benefits of working in a small team means we can work in a more agile way, and often means I need to roll up my sleeves and contribute to marketing activities outside of just social media, like organising the DisruptHR Nottingham events. I’m also really passionate about improving the employee experience in the future of work, so to work for a brand that allows me to talk to like-minded people about this on a daily basis is pretty cool.
David Newman, Software Architect
I’m David and I’m a Software Architect at People First. Throughout my ten years with the company, I have progressed from a Technical Consultant, to a Software Engineer to a Software Delivery Lead. In my current position as a Software Architect, my day usually consists of a variety of meetings with one of the four .NET feature teams that I support. We have design sessions to collaborate on possible solutions for the features we are building, and we meet to review the code, to ensure it is of a high quality.
I enjoy my work here because when I am not working with feature teams, I am investigating ways in which we can improve the quality and performance of people first, so every day is a new challenge. I also love the fun atmosphere of the office and the great team of people I get to work alongside, all with the same mission of striving for good quality software. It is also exciting to see how much the product has grown during my time here, and how this great team work so hard to ensure the success of People First.
